Back in 2005 The Whyalla Players got together with other local performers to raise money for the Eyre Peninsula Bush Fire Appeal.

Pictured here we were singing “We are Australian”.

The concert was put together quickly to raise much needed funds for those affected by the fires. It was successfully performed at the Middleback Theatre (now named the Middleback Arts Centre) and was well supported by the Whyalla community. We sang a variety of songs from shows we had previously performed.

A wonderful production with a quality cast and crew. We raised a few eyebrows with that one! It wasn’t until the following year when working in Texas that I met a colleague who’d been to the Chicken Ranch (“just for drinks, of course”) and another who had friends who’d lived opposite it, and with whom as teenagers had peeped through the Venetian blinds to see which locals were arriving and departing. We also saw the inspiration for investigative reporter Melvin P. Thorpe on television, flamboyant silver hair, and all. All that helpful research came a year too late!

I remember watching this one and loved it!

I too was part of the dance team. Had lots of fun. David Smith directed. Great bunch of women in that show

Loved that show Great memories 😊

Oh! That’s definitely a blast from the past !

Got to sing the opening number! 20 Fans

November 1987 was part of the dance team had a fantastic time. Quite an eye opener for a 20 year old dancing on the stage in my underwear 😀

one of the most satisfying singing experiences of my life learning this bit with Russell; we all excelled ourselves and amazed ourselves!

Although our dark career Sometimes involves the crime of stealing, We rather think that we’re Not altogether void of feeling. Although we live by strife, We’re always sorry to begin it, For what, we ask, is life Without a touch of Poetry in it?

‘Hail Poetry’ was one of the hardest pieces of music I have had to learn to date!! The end result was EPIC!! Also.. Nicki… FYI… that’s me on the far right! In the orange dress… with the same face as the last photo.. and the same face I have today… 😉
